The Story of Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue
Meet Casper - the latest recruit to the Scottish Bitches team. Cheeky, downright crazy and oh so very fluffy, this little puffball would never have come into our lives if it were not for Sunny Harbour - a cat rescue, situated in Lochgelly, Fife. Founded by Sarah and Paul Ross, the team at Sunny Harbour operate on a non-profit, no-kill basis. However, not only operating as a cat rescue, Sunny Harbour also offer services in the way of a cat advice helpline, low cost micro-chipping, as well as a cat care centre.
Sarah Ross, co-founder of the cat rescue said, "We cannot create a better world for the cats of tomorrow if we do not seek to educate those around us of the wonders and responsibilities of caring for a cat as a part of a family unit."
From educating future "pawrents" at the cat rescue about the importance of nutrition, down to taking in and caring for injured and homeless cats on a case-by-case basis, Sarah and Paul have devoted their lives to looking after furballs in need. Even in times of almost maximum capacity, the team at Sunny Harbour cat rescue have been known to go above and beyond the call of duty to make way for gravely ill cats, under the mantra that every cat deserves a fair chance at life.
Be it through a bereavement of a cat owner, or simply a change in circumstances, Sunny Harbour cat rescue offers a non-judgemental environment and safe haven where owners can seek the help of the cat rescue in times of need.
The Cattery - Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue
At present, Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue is fundraising for the build of a new cattery, which in turn will allow the team to take cat care to the next level and help in the prevention of spread of disease that may be brought in with abandoned cats with brand new quarantine facilities, as well as specialised areas for the care of poorly and newborn kittens. As a non-profit organisation, Sunny Harbour cat rescue rely on the generosity of the public to help to continue to fund the wonderful work of the charity.
As such, Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue are on a drive to raise £6,000 for their new cattery - and although they're already 30% of the way there, they need the help of people like you! Due to the unexpected costs of enormous vet bills (through the care of abandoned cats) the cat rescue need help more than ever!
