House of Fraser S/S 2016 Collections Round-Up

House of Fraser S/S 2016 Collections Round-Up

On a chilly March evening, Glasgow’s fashionistas were given a taste of summer at the House of Fraser S/S 2016 preview in the magnificent Oran Mor Auditorium! Away from the winter wind, attendees were transported to a tropical paradise. We could almost hear the waves calling our names with neon lights, palm prints, champagne and, of course, a holiday wardrobe to die for. For S/S 2016 House of Fraser pulled out all the stops with on-trend womenswear collections from their finest: Biba, Kenneth Cole, Label Lab, Linea, POLO Ralph Lauren, Therapy, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria Beckham, Zoe Karssen and many more. Paying homage to the S/S 2016 runways, the chosen collections offered a ready to wear solution to key trends with denim, colour pops, safari prints and fringing in abundance.

What’s more, attendees got to feast their eyes on menswear, interior collections and the latest beauty ranges. With so many items on show we were spoiled for choice, however several collections stood out and appealed to our SB style so, without further ado, here is our round up of the House of Fraser S/S 2016 Collections!

Womenswear

The stand out S/S 2016 collection for us was none other than that of Biba! It seems, the 1960s brand is certainly still a winner 50 years on with bigger, bolder and braver designs.

The collection for Spring/Summer touched on a number of key trends with colour pops, prints and fringed accessories. Rusty orange and gold hues took the lead in accessories with bold primary colours and summer greens taking pride of place on printed trousers, blouses and shift dresses. We are suckers for a bold print and with various Art Deco, animal and safari options on offer we were in SB fashion heaven.

A personal favourite was this bold take on the classic pussy bow blouse! The tiger print in primary colours gives this staple a new lease of life and allows it to easily transcend from day to evening wear and there are also printed palazzo pants to match…what’s more to love!

Key accessories include rusty orange strappy heels and a matching Art Deco clutch!

Another designer who made it into our top picks was Victoria Beckham. From Posh Spice to esteemed fashion designer, Victoria keeps on surprising us with impressive fashion collections and this latest offering is, for us, her most impressive to date.

Bold orange and cobalt blue colour pops and prints add edge to simple monochrome staples, creating a ready to with character. Stand out items include an electric blue biker jacket and this mature take on the standard floral dress with contrasting monochrome and colour prints.

Summer brights stole the show at the House of Fraser with an array of dramatic hot pinks, cobalt blues, yellows and green neons on display. With designers such as POLO Ralph Lauren, Dickins and Jones, Therapy and Hunter pioneering the colour pop trend, there were a variety of options on show to suit all budgets, but one particular item by Ellen Tracy caught our eye.

It was none other than a hot pink coat. I know what you are thinking… a coat, in summer but bear with us. A light coat is a spring/summer essential, it can be thrown over your shoulders to provide a little shelter on cool summer evenings, it can shield you from the suns rays and add instant chic to a simple white summer frock.

This waterfall coat can complement almost any outfit and with a soft shape, it can easily double up as a cape for added chic.

Beauty

Taking pride of place as House of Fraser’s beauty pick for the spring/summer season was Guerlain. Yes, the historic French cosmetics brand has done it again with some bright choices for the season ahead and in some stylish packaging too!

With a whole host of must have lip shades to compliment the sunny seasons from fuchsia colour pops and orange hints to the bold “Poppy Cap” red, Gurelain offers a day long lip colour for all occasions.

To match bold lip choices are a whole host of pink and red nail polishes ranging from natural nude shades in the “My First Nail Polish” and “Pink Ballerina” options to the darker bolds in the “Red Heels”polish.

Also on show is the latest Gurelain Masacra Volume Intense Noir Profound. Using a new all-purpose formula to provide instant volume and day long hold, House of Fraser have backed another winner. With adhesive oils to prevent running or smudging, this is ideal for women on the go and, as a result, I have decided to replace my daily mascara!

In-Style Interiors

House of Fraser also showcased their latest homeware for Spring/Summer. Soothing green palm print fabrics complimented bold gold accessories. Below is a selection of our top picks for any budding interior designers.

SB Street Style - Ema McLeary

In addition to all the chic clothing and accessories on show at the House of Fraser preview, there were also a number of stylish individuals in attendance.

One particular individual that caught our eye was fellow blogger, Ema McLeary. Dressed in a Monki smock and silver ankle boots Ema stole the show with her street style. To find out more about Ema and her blog click here.
